Cet événement m’a amené à un questionnement constructif sur mes choix, ma démarche et mon avenir en tant qu’artiste. C’est parti d’un malaise, le malaise qu’on ressent quand on est en dehors de son élément naturel. Ça aurait dû être naturel pour moi de me retrouver dans un milieu plein de producteurs de peintures et de sculptures attirant des amateurs comme des curieux! Je ne m’y sentais pas à ma place. Sans chercher à discréditer ce genre de réunion qui est tout à fait légitime et qui rend des services aux artistes comme aux acheteurs potentiels, je n’ai pas pu me relier à l’aspect décoratif et commercial.
Dans le commerce, quel qu’il soit, les produits sont nombreux, les acheteurs et les intéressés plus rares. Il faut avoir de l’audace, un sens de la publicité et du marketing, connaître les règles de la libre entreprise et savoir faire jouer ses contacts.
J’ai choisi de faire mes Beaux-arts pour me défaire de mon carcan de prémices artistiques et entrer dans le monde de la création, de l’innovation et de l’intégrité artistique. Pendant un court moment, j’ai eu l’impression que je n’aurais pas dû le quitter tellement je me sentais hors contexte. Cela m’a obligé à me remémorer les étapes de ma démarche, à assurer ma motivation et à consolider mes intentions.
Au fond, ce symposium m’a ramené à l’ordre et m’a fait du bien même si pour cela j’ai dû vivre un malaise pendant quelques jours.

Il existe plusieurs façons de présenter son travail au public. Certains artistes aiment les symposiums et d'autres les détestent. Bonnes ou mauvaises, leurs raisons sont diverses et leur appartiennent. Il ne faut donc pas se sentir "moins artiste" qu'un autre sous prétexte que tu ne te sentes pas à ta place dans un symposium. Il existe d'autres façons de présenter son travail en tant qu'artiste en arts visuels et ce que tu as découvert fait partie de tes caractéristiques d'artiste. Il faut que tu suives la voie que tu sens et non faire ce que les autres font sous prétexte que beaucoup d'autres le font. Chaque être est unique, chaque artiste a une façon d'être qui lui est propre. Tu dois respecter cette façon d'être.

J'ai été malheureusement témoin de la partialité mais aussi de la bêtise et de l'agressivité gratuite de certains juges lors de ce symposium récent. C'est désolant mais c'est malheureusement légion dans le monde de l'art. Il s'agit donc de savoir où mettre les pieds... et ce n'est qu'en la goûtant qu'on peut évaluer la soupe.
D'autre part, de nombreux symposiums réunissent des artistes qui produisent pour de la décoration et copient des photos. Ils ont le mérite d'exister pour satisfaire un public peu éduqué mais néanmoins ouvert à l'art.
Ta production contemporaine mérite d'être diffusée dans des lieux adéquats - c'est à dire des centres culturels et des galeries professionnelles. Cela demande beaucoup d'essais-erreurs. Pourtant je te conseillerai les choses suivantes :
- travailler avec un coach en art
- être membre de ton conseil de la culture
- être membre du Raav
- intégrer éventuellement un collectif d'artistes dont tu te sens proche
- te former à la diffusion, le porte-folio, les demandes de subvention
